The new Asbestos Abatement Regulations came into operation in 2020. Every employer or self-employed person, employing workers that may be exposed to asbestos containing materials, must have their workplace inspected by a competent asbestos inspector before 31 May 2022. The regulations do not apply to premises constructed after March 2011.

Occupational Hygiene

Occupational Hygiene is the discipline of anticipating, recognising, evaluating and controlling health hazards in the working environment with the objective of protecting worker health and well-being and safeguarding the community at large.

Enviromental sampling

Environmental sampling is key to assess and quantify the presence of pollutants in the environment (water, air, soil). It is fundamental to determine if the concentration of pollutants exceed environmental quality guidelines or standards for the protection of public health and ecosystems.

Hygiene and sanitation are both practices that aim to prevent the spread of disease and create a disease-free world. Hygiene is a set of personal practices that contribute to good health, while sanitation is the safe disposal of human waste.

KNOW ABOUT US

Siyalungisa Occupational Hygiene Service (Siyalungisa OHS) is a Level 1 BBBEE youth female–owned, Approved Inspection Authority (AIA) founded in 2020. Siyalungisa OHS was founded with the objective to assist with an all round approach in promoting a safe and healthy work environment for employees and all affected stakeholders. This integrated approach would include rendering services under occupational hygiene, environmental sampling, hygiene & dust supression services. The services provided are also in alignment with various legislation bodies which are working together towards achieving a safe and healthy work environment.​​

Siyalungisa OHS is registered in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and has been approved by the Department of Employment and Labour as a Type C, Approved Inspection Authority: Occupational Hygiene.

Siyalungisa is also accredited in accordance with the recognized International Standard ISO/IEC 17020:2012 by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS).
